San Giovanni Lillies

Ooooo, remember me... this is my blog and today I am making a special effort to write to you all!

Today the 24th of June is San Giovanni and being the patron saint of Turin it means that we are enjoying a bank holiday and a right sunny day it is too. We have been cutting lawns and tending our allotment and basically enjoying a bit of therapeutic 'hard work'.

Finally we sat down in the cool shade of our lovely fig tree to do a bit of real relaxing. I had noticed these lovely Lilies in the garden earlier and fancied spending some time with my sketchbook.

I am sharing these beautiful flowers and my sketches with you. Locally these flowers are known as San Giovanni Lillies, obviously because they flower on San Giovanni. So we have had a lovely calm and relaxing afternoon and have decided not to go to the massive Firework display this evening in Piazza Vittorio... shame.

Butterfly designs reminder!

As you can see I am still collecting butterfly designs as a continuation of my request back in May for World Lupus Day. I have decided to collect them until the end of the year, then I can start again and will launch a new Butterfly Gallery for 2014! The designs I recieve will be included on the PINTEREST board created especially for the occasion. If anyone still has any butterfly patterns or designs they would like included please send them to me. At the moment there are 32 designs and I would love to add more.
Giovanni Berardi Age 7
For those of you who have children I'm sure you can dig out some lovely butterfly designs for me. The children's drawings are particularly cute like this one from Giovanni Berardi, aged 7, I just love the fact that these two butterflies have great big smiles on their faces!

"Grazie Giovanni per le tue bellissime farfalle, il disegno รจ veramente carino, mi piace che le farfalle sono cosi sorridenti! Puoi vederlo anche su PINTEREST."

June - 2013 Designer Calendar Project

June is here and it is time to download the next month from the 2013 Designer Calendar Project. The Freebie Designer Calendar Project is an idea by Maria Jose Bautista V and is totally curated and overseen by her.
This design by Jennie Whitham of JLW Illustration is a bright and modern solution for the month of June, I'm sure it will look great on your wall or desk.

The idea - 12 surface pattern designers each to create a month using their unique style, the only guidelines being the format and the colour palette! The result is a very different calendar full of fun designs and patterns. You can check out all the details and download the month of June here and you will also find some interesting news about the designer Jennie Whitham.
June is availbale as a free download. You can get your copy to print and keep HERE.
Remember that next month is JULY... and that means my design will be coming your way! I will obviously be reminding you to download it, you are not going to miss out on that one!
